BEREAVED families can now pay tribute to their loved ones with a special audio-visual service at Distington Crematorium.
Copeland Borough Council has invested in a system which allows music, photographs and videos to be played on screens during the funeral service.
Budding lead workers raise the roof in Copeland

LOCAL lead enthusiasts were given the chance to improve their skills at a series of master classes.
The lead-working courses were open to professionals, homeowners and anyone else interested in the trade.
The courses were attended by 17 people who were introduced to various techniques which were explored through talks, demonstrations and workshops.
£88,000 awarded to improve borough's shop fronts

MORE THAN £88,000 has been awarded to businesses in the borough to improve the appearance of their commercial premises.
So far grants have been awarded to 34 businesses in Copeland as part of Copeland Borough Council’s building grants scheme.
Businesses can apply for up to £5,000 for improvements to shopfronts, windows and frames, doorways, external decoration and signage. It is a 50 per cent contribution that means that businesses are required to invest in their premises to match-fund the grant.
Copeland celebrates planning success

COPELAND Council has one of the best performing planning departments in the country, according to end-of-year figures.
The council had one of the highest rates of planning application approval nationally in 2017/18, with over 98 per cent of applications received given the go-ahead.
It is also one of the top performing planning authorities for the speed in which it determines applications, and has successfully defended 80 per cent of appeals against its decisions in the last 12 months.
Councillors re-state support for Moorside

COPELAND councillors have re-stated their unanimous backing to the principle of a new nuclear power station at Moorside.
Councillors voted to re-affirm their endorsement of the project and to continue to support the principle of the new-build on land next to Sellafield.
NuGen, the firm behind the plans, announced a pause in the development of the project in May 2017, pending a strategic review. An announcement on the future of the project is expected soon.
Clean waters at Copeland's beaches

TODAY marks the start of the bathing water season - and the great news is that Copeland's seas are clean and safe to enjoy.
All four amenity beaches met the required water quality standards, with Silecroft and St Bees classed as excellent, Seascale as 'good' and Haverigg 'sufficient.'
