Cemeteries

We have five cemeteries which are located in Whitehaven (adjacent to the St Bees Road), Hensingham, Beckermet, Netherwasdale and Millom. All our cemeteries are open to the public. Further information on our cemeteries, including memorial benches, is available.

Crematorium

Distington Hall Crematorium is set in very pleasant surroundings in the north of the borough and serves the majority of Copeland and most of the south of Allerdale. Distington Victorian Walled Garden Café 

The café is situated in an old Victorian Walled Garden, just as you turn into the crematorium.  Surrounded by high walls and fleur de leaf fencing it makes it a warm secluded place to enjoy the amazing garden and refreshments.

The garden has been transformed over the last few years by a strong volunteer group with help from Cumberland staff.  It now offers an area to enjoy a lavender maze, tree lined fruit trees, raised sensory beds and a planted area to sit and enjoy.

The café is open Tuesday to Friday, 10am - 3pm, and offers a selection of refreshments, cakes, scones, sandwiches pies etc., all made freshly on site.
