Copeland Community Fund is looking to recruit

The Copeland Community Fund is looking to recruit up to 3 Independent Board Members to serve a two year term on the Copeland Community Fund Project Board.

The Fund is looking for individuals who have a strong interest in the economic, social and environmental advancement of Copeland. You would also need to be able to devote the necessary time and effort to this voluntary role. The Fund is keen to hear from applicants from all backgrounds who can help set the direction of the Fund for the benefit of the local community.

Colourful choice at Market Hall

Copeland Council is seeking the public’s help in deciding the colour of an iconic building in Whitehaven.

Work is continuing on the Market Hall, ready for council staff to move there in the autumn. The reception and customer services department will be there, as well as some other staff. Many other staff will remain in the Copeland Centre.

The revamped hall will also include a public toilet on the side of the grade ll listed building.

The Haig Mining Museum in Whitehaven is hosting two fun volunteer days when people can get involved in sprucing up the museum’s surroundings. 

 

The events have been organised as part of the Whitehaven Lengthsman scheme funded by Copeland Community Fund and Copeland Borough Council.

 

There are two sessions:

  • Wednesday August 19, 10am until 2pm

Business Broadband Vouchers

Copeland businesses with a CA postcode looking to update to a faster, more reliable internet connection can apply for a grant of up to £3,000 as Copeland Borough Council’s Executive agree to sign up to the Carlisle City Broadband Voucher scheme.

 

The Executive also agreed to lobby to have the scheme extended to include areas in the south of the borough with the LA postcode.

Copeland’s annual electoral canvass begins this month, and residents are being urged not to lose their right to vote.

 

The annual event asks people to confirm their details, or make any changes, so that they can be included on the new Register of Electors, which will be published on December 1.
