COPELAND residents can now access a range of services online.
The Council Tax Portal allows residents to set up a direct debit, view council tax details, report a change of address and search for a council tax band.
Copeland Borough Council is urging residents to pay their council tax bills through direct debit using the portal.

An innovative scheme to tackle social issues through healthy food is going from strength to strength in Whitehaven.
The Food Pantry Project is now to run an event each month at St Peter's Community Hall in Woodhouse. The first event will be on October 18.
There are also plans to develop a Food Pantry in a local school.
The work is part of a £20,000 pilot scheme funded by Copeland and Allerdale Councils. It looks to improve health and wellbeing using food which would otherwise be wasted. The project is also being supported by Cumbria County Council.

Hundreds of people tried their hand at traditional crafts in Whitehaven recently.
The Heritage Skills Fair showcased skills including stone masonry, stained glass making, lead working, blacksmithing, joinery, dry stone walling and willow weaving.
Organised by Crosby Granger Architects on behalf of Copeland Borough Council and the Whitehaven Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI), the fair in the town's Market Place attracted around 600 people.

A PROMINENT Whitehaven garden will receive a significant makeover thanks to a newly-formed partnership.
Whitehaven Town Council, Copeland Borough Council and the Parish of Whitehaven Church Council have formed the St Nicholas’ Gardens Working Group that will see an initial £10,000 spent on improving the much-loved Whitehaven town centre gardens.

A FIVE-YEAR transformation project to revitalise an area of Whitehaven town centre is set to end.
Residents are being asked to share their thoughts on the success of the Whitehaven Townscape Heritage Initiative which has transformed the area of James Street and Market Place, Whitehaven.
The scheme focuses on the conservation area from the former YMCA building through to Market Place and has seen a once run-down space transformed into an attractive gateway to the town centre.

A MAJOR improvement project at Distington Hall Crematorium is under way.
Copeland Council agreed to the significant investment in its budget for 2018/19, and an internal project team has been established to oversee the work.
Improvements planned at the crematorium include an upgrade of the building and grounds, and the creation of a second smaller chapel for more intimate services.
