Council launches polling station consultation

COPELAND Council is inviting the public to comment on the polling arrangements it uses for elections.

The council is carrying out its five-yearly review to ensure all electors have appropriate facilities for voting.

The review includes polling district boundaries, locations of and access to polling stations. It also gives respondents the opportunity to suggest other buildings that may be used for polling.

Statement on plastic recycling

Copeland Council has issued the following statement on plastic recycling:

“Following footage of the irresponsible disposal of plastic recycling that appeared on the BBC’s War on Plastics programme on Monday, Copeland Council can confirm that 100 per cent of the recyclable plastic we collect at the doorstep and at recycling sites is processed in the UK.

Council creates two tourism jobs

COPELAND Council is driving forward its tourism agenda with the recruitment of two members of staff dedicated to attracting more visitors to the borough.

The council is currently advertising for two newly-created posts - a Tourism Sector Development Officer and a Coastal Programme Officer - to develop the tourism offer in the borough.

The Tourism Sector Development Officer will work with the private and public sector, as well as community partners, to develop new products, activities and attractions in the borough to increase visitor numbers.
