Garden collections end soon for winter

COPELAND Council is reminding residents that garden waste collections end for the winter on Friday November 16.
The collections will be suspended as usual during this period but restart on March 11 2019.
Coun Mark Holliday, portfolio holder for Waste, said: "We know residents have found it useful now that we extend the garden waste collection period into mid November. It enables people to have their final grass cut, clear leaves and have a final tidy up before the winter.
Events to mark Remembrance Sunday

EVENTS will take place around Copeland to mark Remembrance Sunday (November 11).
Whitehaven
From 10am, the parade will assemble outside Copeland Council’s offices, on Catherine Street. The parade to the cenotaph in Castle Park begins at 10.40am, and a service and wreath-laying takes place at the cenotaph at 10.55am.
Crematorium to host Christmas service

A SPECIAL memorial service offering people the chance to remember their loved ones will take place this Christmas.
Distington Hall Crematorium will host the event on Wednesday, December 19, that will include carols and readings, followed by light refreshments. Guests will also have the opportunity to light a candle or hang a ribbon on the Christmas tree in memory of a loved one.
