A SPECIAL event is being held at Distington Hall Crematorium to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week.
The event, on Tuesday, October 15 (7pm to 8pm), will give parents, family members and friends the chance commemorate the all-too-brief lives of their babies.
During a short memorial service at 7pm, those attending will be given the opportunity to light a candle as part of the global ‘Wave of Light’ which unites people across the world in honour of those babies lost. A tree will also be available in the crematorium’s foyer to which ribbons and messages can be attached.
Council launches town centre survey

COPELAND Council has launched a survey to gauge views on Whitehaven town centre.
The survey has been produced to help inform the council’s bid to the Government’s Future High Streets Fund that aims to revitalise and modernise town centres.
It asks the town centre’s residents, visitors and workers to inform the council about their use of the area, and to give their views on the key issues affecting it. It also asks respondents how they would like to use the town centre in the future.
