A house-to-house collections licence is required when there is a collection for charitable purposes.

An application for a licence must be made not later than a month before the collection is due to take place.

Access an application form, and for further information, view the document House to house collections code of fundraising practice.

If you get your water supply privately from a well, borehole or spring on your property, we must test it to make sure it is safe to drink.

Most people in Copeland get their water through the mains. United Utilities treat and test our mains water to make sure it is safe for people to drink. They look out for signs of bacteria and viruses that can make people ill.

United Utilities also make sure that any chemicals in the mains water are at a safe level.

Permanent cafe for Silecroft moves nearer

Published: 25/02/2020

COPELAND Council has revealed how a new beach cafe at Silecroft could look.

The planned new cafe is part of the Connecting Cumbria's Hidden Coast project - a series of attractions and improvements to the footpaths linking Copeland's coast.

This week the council appointed architects Konishi Gaffney to oversee the design of the cafe. The project attracted 59 hopeful bids from across the UK.

The scheme uses three plastic boxes and one large white weighted bag to collect five materials.

The green box is for glass, the black one is for metals and plastic, and the blue one is for paper. Card goes into your weighted bag.

As well as giving you more room in your main bin, there's a whole host of ways in which small actions can have a big effect when it comes to plastic recycling.

When windy weather is forecast, we have some handy tips to help with your kerbside recycling.

We know boxes and bags can sometimes get blown around if the wind is particularly bad, and this can cause real litter problems, as well as the loss of the recycling materials to the service.
