More than £1.5 million paid to businesses in Copeland

BUSINESSES in Copeland will receive more than £1.5 million in grant support this week.

The cash grants will be hitting bank accounts to help businesses through the pandemic.

The grants are being made to 667 businesses, eligible for the Local Restriction Support Grant (closed), that have been forced to close as a result of Government restrictions during December and January.

The payments include an upfront cash amount for the current lockdown period, January 5 – February 15.

Council supports 13 households with homelessness at Christmas

COPELAND Council supported 13 households in need of advice, or somewhere to stay, over the Christmas period. One of these was suffering from domestic abuse.

The residents, and their families, were homeless or threatened with homelessness, and have been provided advice and/or temporary accommodation in the borough whilst a permanent housing solution is put in place.
