Bin changes due to Covid

Published: 15/07/2021

A STEEP rise in the number of staff isolating due to Covid-19 has forced Copeland Council to suspend its garden waste collections for two weeks.

From Monday, July 19, there will be no garden waste collections for a fortnight. The change will not be shown on residents’ online calendars.

The situation will be assessed daily and subject to staffing levels improving and stabilising, collections will restart after the two-week suspension.

Multi-million-pound funding deal for Millom

Published: 15/07/2021

THE community of Millom is celebrating being offered multi-million-pound funding for the town.

The Millom Town Deal Board, with the support of Copeland Council, has been successful in its initial application to the Government’s Towns Fund and has been offered investment of £20.6m.

Copeland Council was invited to bid for funding on behalf of Millom (incorporating Haverigg) in January last year, and a Town Deal Board made up of community representatives has worked with the support of the council to produce its Town Investment Plan.

The Copeland People’s Panel on Climate Change has an Oversight Panel, established to make sure that the process is transparent, fair, balanced and robust. Based on a successful model used for the Leeds Climate Change Citizens’ Jury and the Kendal Climate Change Citizens’ Jury, the Copeland Oversight Panel is made up of the main organisations that are able to influence Copeland’s response to climate change.
