Start a new career in 2020

TRAINING and the chance of an exciting new career are on offer through the Copeland Work and Skills Partnership.

The partnership, led by Copeland Borough Council, runs six-week long ‘academies’ to help unemployed people get the basic skills, experience and confidence they need to get back into work.

Featuring short training courses, mock interviews, work experience and support with applications, they are delivered in partnership with employers who have current or future vacancies. Participants are guaranteed an interview at the end of the academies.

Everyone who sells alcohol, puts on entertainment or serves hot food after 11pm must hold a premises licence/club premises certificate to be able to trade under the Licensing Act 2003.

There are four types of licence:

Lotteries

Guidance is available on running a small lottery, and on children and small society lotteries.

Private Hire Vehicle Licence

We issue premises licences for betting, bingo, adult gaming centres, family entertainment centres, casinos, horse racing and dog tracks. We also issue permits for prize gaming, gaming machines in alcohol licensed premises, members' clubs and unlicensed family entertainment centres.

We also register small society lotteries and issue occasional and temporary use notices and provisional statements.

The national Best Bar None scheme, which is aimed at improving standards and increasing safety in licensed premises, has been rolled out in Whitehaven.
