Two-household advice extended to whole county

Following a doubling of the new COVID-19 cases within Cumbria over the last week, new public health advice for the county has now been introduced.
By law in England people must not meet indoors or outdoors in groups of more than six people. In addition, from today people living in Cumbria are being strongly advised that groups of six should include people from no more than TWO households.

112 men, women and children leave abusive homes

COPELAND Council has supported 112 men, women and children to leave abusive homes through the current pandemic.
Fifty-three women, three men and 56 children have been supported by the Council’s Prevention and Crisis Support Officer from April to September.
The council saw a 30 per cent increase in referrals to its domestic abuse support service during the lockdown period (April to June), in comparison to the three months before the pandemic.
