The Beacon Museum and Portal to close temporarily

THE Beacon Museum and Portal in Whitehaven will close their doors on Thursday in line with new Government guidance.
The museum will use the four-week closure period to work on the ongoing Beacon Sparks digitisation project and carry out essential maintenance. The museum’s popular outreach programme with schools will continue.
Over 130 residents supported by Work & Skills Partnership

OVER 130 Copeland residents have been supported into employment and training opportunities over the past year via the Copeland Work & Skills Partnership.
The Partnership – run by Copeland Council and funded by Copeland Community Fund and Sellafield Ltd – has published its annual review for 2019/20 this week, and it outlines the life-changing support and opportunities it has offered to 137 individuals over the past 12 months.
Council brings forward free parking offer

COPELAND Council has brought forward plans to offer free parking in the borough.
The council had planned to introduce free parking from the start of December to help boost the town centre economies over the festive period.
But following the announcement that England will this week enter a four-week lockdown, the council will suspend charges for its car parks from Thursday, November 5, effective until January 3.
Study into public toilets in Whitehaven to go ahead

A FEASIBILITY study around public toilets in Whitehaven has been given the go ahead.
Whitehaven Town Council agreed Mayor, Mike Starkie’s proposal to partner in the study yesterday (Thursday), at a meeting of the town council.
Whitehaven Town Council has pledged £50,000 to support Copeland Borough Council in a joint initiative which will identify partnership responsibilities, appropriate sights, cost implications and public requirements.
