Christmas craft market success

A CREATIVE Christmas market was hailed a success this weekend with more than 500 attendees.

The market, held at Distington Walled Garden, hosted a range of stalls selling plants, confectionery, antiques, crafts, needlework, candles, cocktails and Christmas creations.

The crowds were entertained by Moresby Choir and Whitehaven Brass Band.

Andy Pratt, Portfolio Holder for Parks and Open Spaces, said: “The weather certainly didn’t dampen the Christmas spirit over the weekend, with hundreds of people browsing our Christmas stalls.

Free festive parking

COPELAND Council is offering free parking on weekends, and after 3pm on weekdays, over the festive period.

Eight of the car parks that the council runs will be free to use on Saturdays and Sundays, and after 3pm on weekdays, from Saturday, November 26 to Monday, January 2 (inclusive).

Included in the offer is School House Lane, Senhouse Street, Whitehaven Sports Centre, The Beacon Museum and North Shore (all Whitehaven), Chapel Street and Beck Green (Egremont), and St Bees Foreshore.
