£252,000 awarded to Whitehaven museum

THE BEACON Museum, Whitehaven, has been awarded £252,000 by central Government as part of its £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund.
The funding has been awarded to help face the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and to ensure arts, culture and heritage organisations have a sustainable future.
Mike Starkie, Mayor of Copeland, said: “I am delighted at the announcement of substantial Government investment for some of the hardest hit organisations in Copeland.
Applications open for Test and Trace Support Payments

RESIDENTS in Copeland can now apply online for the new government Test and Trace support scheme.
Anyone working, on a low-income and who is required to self-isolate, could be eligible for a £500 payment. If they live in Copeland, they can apply by filling in an online form available at https www.copeland.gov.uk/test-and-trace-support-payment.
Conservation area consultations to be launched

COPELAND residents are set to be asked for their views on five of the borough’s conservation areas.
Copeland Council will run five public consultations before the end of 2020 - starting on Monday, October 12 - to invite feedback on its draft appraisal documents for Millom, Cleator Moor, Egremont, St Bees and Hensingham. The documents outline the special interest of the conservation areas, referring to their development, character and appearance.
