Copeland Council bank holiday arrangements

COPELAND Council has made the following arrangements for the coming bank holiday on Monday, May 31.

All household waste, recycling and garden waste collections will take place one day later than normal that week (including a Saturday collection for those who would ordinarily be collected on Friday, June 4).

Residents can find out when their next collection will be at www.copeland.gov.uk.   

The council’s out-of-hours emergency number for issues relating to homelessness and domestic abuse support is 01946 598300.

Jeanette Forster elected new Chair of council

COUNCILLOR Jeanette Forster has been elected as Copeland Council’s Chair for 2021/22.

Councillor Forster, who represents the Sneckyeat ward, was elected to the position at the council’s Annual General Meeting today and succeeds Councillor Charles Maudling.

Councillor Linda Jones-Bulman has been elected as Deputy Chair for the forthcoming year.

Councillor Forster, a Copeland Councillor for the past six years, said: “It is a great honour to be elected as Chair.

THE dedication and commitment of Copeland Borough Council’s workforce has been praised at its Annual General Meeting.

Mike Starkie, Mayor of Copeland, presented the council’s Summary of Achievements at today's meeting, and shone a spotlight on the outstanding work carried out.

The document showcases the efforts of council officers to continue to deliver services throughout the pandemic, as well as providing vital support to the most vulnerable members of the Copeland community.
