Tourism event a success

TOURISM businesses received the very latest industry updates at a breakfast event hosted by Copeland, Allerdale and Carlisle councils.

The event at Rosehill Theatre welcomed delegates from across the area and featured guest speakers from Armstrong and Watson, Cumbria Tourism and the University of Cumbria.

The three councils gave updates on their latest projects, and there were presentations on recruitment, how the cost of living crisis is affecting business, and development opportunities in 2023.

Council tackles domestic abuse in Copeland

COPELAND Council is tackling domestic abuse by highlighting its support service during the FIFA World Cup.

The council has supported 437 men, women and children to break free from domestic abuse, since its specialist service was introduced in 2017.

Mike Starkie, Mayor of Copeland, said: “The first England match takes place today (Monday).

“This, alongside the cost of living crisis, and the added pressures of the upcoming festive season, will undoubtedly be a difficult time for those in abusive relationships.
