Cumbria Action for Sustainability

Cumbria Action for Sustainability (CAfS) is Cumbria’s Climate Change and Sustainability organisation with a mission to help Cumbria’s people, businesses, local authorities and community organisations reduce their carbon footprint and live more sustainably.

Zero Carbon Cumbria Partnership

The Zero Carbon Cumbria Partnership is a group of over 70 Cumbrian organisations that are working together to find practical ways to drive down the county’s carbon emissions and enable it to become carbon neutral. Further information about the work of the partnership can be found here.

One of the first actions of the Zero Carbon Cumbria Partnership was to commission a report on Cumbria’s Carbon Baseline providing crucial information about where Cumbria’s carbon emissions come from enabling a clearer understanding of where action can best be taken.  A copy of the Cumbria Carbon Baseline Report can be found here.

There are resources available to help your business save money and achieve carbon net zero.

Carbon footprint calculator: Cumbria Action for Sustainability has produced a free carbon footprint calculator that Small & Medium sized businesses (SMEs) can use to better understand the environmental impact of their business and identify how to go about reducing that impact.

Energy efficiency: The UK Government has published guidance on practical and cost-effective ways that SMEs can implement energy efficiency measures to reduce costs and increase profits.

You can also find out what services are available from the Carbon Trust and the Energy Saving Trust to see how these organisations could help your business save money and reduce your carbon footprint.

The UK Government has launched the Green Heat Network Fund (GHNF).  This is a is a 3-year £288 million capital grant fund that will support the commercialisation and construction of new low and zero carbon heat networks.
