Published: 22/03/2022

THE BEACON Museum is running a series of walks and talks this spring - and training locals to do the same in their own communities.

The Out and About project is part of Copeland Council's £159,000 government-funded Welcome Back Fund programme.

The museum has recruited volunteers to lead narrated walks in St Bees, Whitehaven and Seascale, and is looking for others to come forward and get involved.

Sites considered in consultation

Published: 21/03/2022

COPELAND residents are being invited to have their say on two potential sites for allocation as Gypsy and Traveller accommodation.

The survey is part of a consultation on a planning document that will guide development decisions in the future - the Copeland Local Plan 2021-38.

By law, the council must meet the housing needs of all its residents - including those who identify as Gypsies, Travellers and travelling showpeople.

A county-wide assessment has identified a need for 12 pitches for Gypsy and Traveller accommodation in Copeland.
