Artisan crafts to fill community garden

Enjoy the vibrant surroundings at our Artisan Fete next weekend.
On Saturday, August 6, an array of local businesses will be showcasing their crafts at an outdoor market in Distington Walled Garden.
Younger visitors can bring along their entries for fun craft competitions and join in bunting making on the day – there’s even a pony to pet.
Alongside the market, guests can sample tasty homemade produce, in the newly restored community garden.
Summer festival for healthy family fun

An action-packed wellbeing festival will help families in Copeland to access support for a healthy lifestyle.
Next month, Copeland Borough Council’s Health and Wellbeing Community Festival will provide free family entertainment alongside access to vital wellbeing services.
Animal therapy sessions, rugby workshops, dance classes and a colour run with Gary Mckee, the ‘Marathon Man’, are just a few of the activities on offer.
All are welcome to attend at the Whitehaven Rugby League Club on Friday, August 12, from 10am until 3pm.
Prestigious award for vital service

A PRESTIGIOUS award has been given to Distington Hall Crematorium grounds and bereavement services.
The crematorium, run by Copeland Council, has received the annual Green Flag Award – meaning it’s among the very best in the country.
The award ‘celebrates amazing spaces’ and is the benchmark standard for publicly accessible parks and green spaces in the United Kingdom and around the world.
The Green Flag Award report states: ‘The crematorium and its grounds clearly deserve a Green Flag Award, being a high-quality service for the local community.
