Information on the Planning Panel

The COVID-19 outbreak is currently impacting our ability to operate our normal level of service provision including decision making.

At present there is no intention to hold any Planning Panel meetings until clarification has been received from the Government regarding public meetings and decision making by Local Planning Authorities.

We try to determine most applications at officer level under the approved scheme of delegation. Any applications which cannot be dealt with at officer level are determined by the Planning Panel. This would normally include all major applications and other development which raises significant local concerns.

Speaking at the Planning Panel

If you have previously registered your objections in writing to a planning application, then you can come and speak to the Planning Panel before a decision is taken on the proposal. If you wish to take part in the meeting then you must register your intention to speak in writing at least six clear working days before the date of the relevant Planning Panel meeting. Your request should be sent to the Development Management team at devcontrol@copeland.gov.uk

Please prepare by reading our procedure for speaking at Planning Panel meetings.
