Hackney Carriage Driver Licence

In order to drive a licensed Hackney Carriage Vehicle you must first obtain a Hackney Carriage Driver Licence.

You must first apply for your Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Certificate by following the procedure in the application pack.

You must submit your application together with the following documents:

• A full DVLA driving licence which you must have held for 12 months (photo card & a check code from the DVLA website to enable the Licensing Team to check any endorsements on your driving licence)

• A medical certificate (see medical form)

• 2 x passport size colour photographs

• The Licence fee of £150.00

• Valid DBS Certificate

Incomplete applications will not be accepted and will be returned to you.

Once all the necessary information has been collated and if satisfactory, a yellow Hackney Carriage Drivers Badge will then be issued to you for a period of 3 years.
