LDF Issues and Options Consultation

The Copeland LDF Issues and Options Consultation took place between 28 May and 10 July 2009. The deadline for responses was extended further to the 7 August 2009 due to a number of public meetings which took place after the initial deadline. A LDF Issues and Options Responses to Consultation Summary Report has been produced.

The LDF Issues and Options Consultation was the first stage in producing three important Development Plan Documents (DPDs) which will form part of the Council's LDF.

The first stage of our LDF preparation was to consider the range of issues that should be addressed and the potential solutions (options). The purpose of the Issues and Options consultation was to help us to identify and focus on the key issues facing Copeland that the LDF needs to address; gauge opinion on the main planning and development choices which need to be made in the Borough and ensure that all reasonable options and alternative approaches for addressing the issues have been identified.

All new planning policy documents are required to undergo an assessment as to their sustainability i.e. their combined economic, social and environmental effects over time. To establish the baseline information for this the Council published a Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report and a Habitats Regulations Evidence Gathering Report which were available for comment.

The LDF Issues and Options Consultation Document is available to download below.
