Restart grants for Copeland businesses

Published: 26/03/2021

BUSINESSES in Copeland will receive one-off payments of up to £18,000 to reopen safely as Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.

Grants of up to £18,000 will be paid to businesses in the hospitality, leisure, personal care and accommodation sectors.

Grants of up to £6,000 will be paid to non-essential retail businesses.

Payments for the Restart grant scheme will be made after April 1, 2021.

Eligible businesses that have already received Covid-19 related grant support do not need to apply for this payment. However, they will be asked to complete a self-declaration before payments can be made.

Businesses will receive an email from Copeland Council’s ‘GOV Notify’ account before April 1, with the appropriate guidance to complete the self-declaration.

For businesses that have not yet applied for Covid-19 related grant support, applications will open on April 1, 2021.

Businesses must have been trading on April 1, 2021 to be eligible to receive funding under the Restart grant scheme.

It is expected that, although the business is not able to provide in-person services from the premises on April 1, 2021, trading and business activity is still ongoing.

The restart grant is available to eligible business-rate payers operating from fixed rate-paying premises only.
