Over 130 residents supported by Work & Skills Partnership

Published: 03/11/2020

OVER 130 Copeland residents have been supported into employment and training opportunities over the past year via the Copeland Work & Skills Partnership.

The Partnership – run by Copeland Council and funded by Copeland Community Fund and Sellafield Ltd – has published its annual review for 2019/20 this week, and it outlines the life-changing support and opportunities it has offered to 137 individuals over the past 12 months.

Through courses, academies, seminars and workshops, the Partnership has helped raise employability skills, provided training opportunities and supported individuals to overcome personal barriers. Highlights include:

- 12 people have been supported into apprenticeships

- 21 people are now more job-ready after completing sector-based work academies

- 19 people have increased skills/experience through a wage subsidy scheme

- 62 people are better prepared to apply for jobs after bespoke support activities
