Millom community asked for conservation views

Published: 03/03/2020

MEMBERS of the Millom community are being asked for their views on the town’s conservation area.

Copeland Council has launched a four-week consultation to invite feedback on its draft appraisal document, which outlines the special interest of Millom’s conservation area, referring to its development, character and appearance.

The council will incorporate feedback received during the consultation into its final document that will be used to aid decision-making in the town.

Councillor Mike McVeigh, Portfolio Holder for Development Management, said: “This conservation area appraisal provides the opportunity to draw attention to Millom’s important history, articulate the conservation challenges it faces, and support local residents, developers and planners to make informed decisions.

“We now welcome feedback from interested parties to help us make sure this document fully reflects the wealth of local knowledge available.”

The consultation opens today (Tuesday, March 3) and runs until Tuesday, March 31.

To view the draft document and to complete a short questionnaire, visit the ‘Consultations’ section at www.copeland.gov.uk. Hard copies of the draft document and questionnaire are available in Millom Library and Millom Hub. A drop-in session will also be held at Millom Library on Tuesday, March 17 from 10am to 12pm.
