Businesses invited to VIP preview event

Published: 08/03/2019

TOURISM businesses in Copeland are invited for a sneak preview of the borough’s new Visitor Information Point.

The Visitor Information Point, based in The Beacon Museum, Whitehaven, will offer a wealth of information and links on Copeland’s tourism offer – including attractions, accommodation, transport and hospitality – when it opens its doors on Saturday, March 30.

In advance of the opening, businesspeople and interested parties are invited to a drop-in session at The Beacon Portal on Monday, March 18 to find out more about the venture and how they can get involved. Tours of the facility and the museum are also on offer.

Mike Starkie, Mayor of Copeland, said: “We’re extremely excited to drive our tourism agenda forward, and build on the momentum generated by the recent Copeland Tourism Summit, with the opening of a dedicated Visitor Information Point.

“The drop-in session is the perfect opportunity for businesses to get involved with the project; to see the facility first-hand and to tell us how they’d like to contribute to – and benefit from - the Visitor Information Point.

“It’s also an excellent networking opportunity with guests able to exchange information and ideas with one another.”

The drop-in event takes place on Monday, March 18 between 2pm and 7pm. For more information, or to register attendance, email communications@copeland.gov.uk.
