Whitehaven’s festive markets

Published: 15/11/2018

A RANGE of festivities is on offer at Whitehaven Market this Christmas, with a series of events for traders and visitors alike.

Copeland Borough Council is inviting stallholders and shop owners to set out their wares at Christmas markets held on Saturday, December 8 and 15, for the discounted rate of £12 per day (usual price £18).

Visitors will be able to indulge in a warming winter treat from one of the many stalls on offer, while browsing the festive fancies. Children are in for a special treat as Father Christmas will be making his way to town on both dates.

Christmas carols will be aplenty as local group Singstars and pupils from St James’ Junior School and St Begh’s Catholic Junior School will be performing for the crowds.

Whitehaven Brass Band will also be spreading festive cheer on Saturday, December 15 from 1.30pm until 3pm.

Mike Starkie, Mayor of Copeland, said: “We have entertainment for all ages at this year’s festive markets.

“I’m delighted to see our local schools and community groups getting involved in bringing footfall into the town over the festive period and am sure it will be thoroughly enjoyed by all who attend.”
