Dog owners fined for allowing pets to foul

Published: 09/05/2018

TWO dog owners have been fined for not cleaning up after their pets.

Copeland Council issued £80 fixed penalty notices to the individuals, who left the mess behind at South View Road in Bransty and Parton beach car park.

Coun Mark Holliday, Copeland's portfolio holder for customers and communities, said: "Most dog owners do the right thing and clean up after their animals. But when people don't, we will always take action if possible. This is unacceptable behaviour that makes our communities unpleasant for our neighbours.”

He added: "It's sometimes difficult to catch people actually leaving the dog mess, but residents often help us by highlighting repeat offenders, who do it at the same time and place. We are grateful for this and anyone who has such information should get in touch with us at 01946 598300 or info@copeland.gov.uk."
