Register to Vote or Lose Out

Published: 17/02/2015

Release date: 17 Feb 2015.  For immediate release

Copeland Borough Council is urging local residents not yet registered to vote to go online now to register.

There are only 11 weeks until voters go to the polls to elect a Member of Parliament for Copeland, and for the first time, a directly elected Mayor. Local elections are also taking place on the same day. Anyone not registered can do so at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

Paul Walker, Chief Executive and the Returning Officer for Copeland Borough Council, said, “Anyone who is not yet registered to vote and wants to take part in the May 7 elections needs to act now. It only takes a few minutes to complete the form online to register and have the opportunity to take part in the upcoming national, local, parish and Copeland elected Mayor elections.”

All Copeland homes will receive a letter with details of who is currently on the electoral register for that property.  Anyone living at the property, but whose name is not on the letter, should register to vote at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

For more information please contact the elections team at elections@copeland.gov.uk or visit the Copeland website www.copelandbc.gov.uk .
