Market stalls during Taste Cumbria Festival

Published: 07/07/2017

TIME is running out for traders to grab themselves a stall during July’s Taste Cumbria Summer Festival.

Copeland Council is offering existing or would be traders the chance to hire a market stall during the weekend.

The festival is set to take place on Saturday, July 22 and Sunday, July 23, 2017, and similar events across the county have featured up to 40,000 visitors and benefited the local economy to the sum of up to £3 million per event.

Taste Cumbria has around 40 stallholders set to sell their produce so far alongside some of the county’s best known chefs who will be showcasing their skills throughout the weekend.

Each available stall will cost £18 per day and will be located at the regular twice weekly Whitehaven Market. In addition to the pop-up market stalls there will also be tables available to hire on Saturday, July 22 and Sunday, July 23, priced at £10 each.

Mike Starkie, Mayor of Copeland, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for existing traders or those that may want to have a go at selling their products for the first time.

“There will undoubtedly be a massive footfall of people visiting the town over the weekend and we’d urge those looking to sell their produce to get in touch as soon as possible to guarantee their place.”
