COPELAND LOCAL PLAN
REVIEW

One of the Council's responsibilities is to plan for land use change and development in the Borough*. This requires producing a Local Plan, the aim of which is to guide development so that it meets the areas' needs for new homes, jobs and community facilities, but does not have detrimental impact on our towns, villages, countryside or coast. The current Copeland Local Plan, adopted in June 1997, is currently under review. The first stage in this review process is the production of an Issues Report. This has just completed a consultation period.

The Issues Report highlights the different aspects of key topics which need to be considered and was designed to provide interested bodies and the general public the opportunity to express their opinions and ideas. These views and comments will then be taken into consideration during the production of the Local Plan.
