Council Opportunities
Copeland Borough Council spends approximately £13 million per
year on goods, works and services provided by a wide range of
suppliers. The Council deals with small and medium sized
enterprises (SMEs) as well as larger businesses, at both a national
and local level.
The Council aims to encourage a mixed range of suppliers to bid
for contracts in order to help develop a varied and competitive
market place. Specifically, the Council will support and encourage
local suppliers and ensure, as far as possible, that they have the
opportunity to compete on equal terms.
You can find out
about current and planned business opportunities at Copeland
Borough Council via our
tender schedule as well as through the local press, trade
journals and Mytenders.
The Council has also recently joined The Chest, an electronic
tendering portal where opportunities are advertised and the
tendering process can be carried out online. Registration is free
for all businesses, and more detail can be found in this
leaflet.
Our Suppliers’ Guide details how to take advantage of these opportunities.
Interested parties should take note of
EU directives (where appropriate) and be
mindful of the compliance
requirements for Copeland Borough Council’s policies when
considering expressing an interest. Please also see our
Equality Scheme and Confidential Reporting Code, which all
contractors must be aware of. Some templates relating to Equality
& Diveristy policies and procedures are available
here. They may act as a useful basis for existing and
potential suppliers to develop equalities policies of their own.
Equality & Diveristy is part of the tender evaluation criteria
for high value contracts.
The Council has a number
of contracts in operation at present, which can be viewed in
our
contracts register. Contracts can also viewed via
The Vault, a register of contracts currently held by the 46
local authorities in the north west.
The Council has a partnership with Business Link where we seek
to encourage suppliers to improve their tender responses and
grow their businesses so their potential is fully realised.
