Copeland Borough Council is a vibrant place to be with a range
of activities and events on offer to suit all tastes and
styles.
- Whitehaven Civic Hall has attracted some of the
biggest names in the music industry.
- Rosehill Theatre has a varied programme of films, drama and
musical performance
- and local amateur groups and community arts
activities.
Current Projects
Carnival
Copeland Borough Council's Cultural Services Team recently took
part in Whitehaven
Carnival and won the trophy for best float! the team worked with
a local Mothers and babies group; Bumps 2 Babies, who helped to
decorate the float, along with artist Carl Sowerby who has worked
on the Pathways to Art project. Another Pathways To Art workshop
made flags for the procession of children to wave, and the Back to
Netball group followed the float doing Netball skills, a real
community effort!
BBC Blast
BBC Blast is coming to Whitehaven!
Gain new skills, showcase your work, and get the lowdown from the
UK's leading industry professionals. From filmmaking to fashion,
graffiti to gaming - it it's creative, they've got it!
BBC Blast will be in Whitehaven
Harbour Front from Thursday 19th till Saturday 21st August offering
FREE creative workshops for 13 to 19 year olds. To find out what's
on offer and book a place on one of the sessions go to
BBC Blast.
Look out for the Blast Advance Tour
around Copeland in the week before the main event offering FREE
taster workshops in Radio, Music and Photography. All you have to
do is turn up!
Cinema
Rosehill Theatre offers a
film programme from 'blockbuster' titles to Arthouse, and a variety
of shows, guests and drama.
Exhibitions
The Beacon Museum - located on the harbourside, Whitehaven has a
municipal art gallery with a remit to show both traditional and
contemporary art.
Lowes Court Gallery on
the Main Street in Egremont shows a range of arts and crafts from
local practitioners.
