RESULTS for the parliamentary by-election for the Copeland Constituency on Thursday 23rd February 2017.

Guest 811, Hanson 2,252, Harrison 13,748, Ivinson 116, Lenox 515, Mills 2,025, Troughton 11,601.

Rejected votes, 40.

Votes cast 31,108.

Turnout 51.33%.

Important dates

Applications to register on the Electoral Register.

In order to vote at this election, your name must appear on the electoral register.  The deadline for applications to register to vote is Tuesday 7th February 2017.  You can now register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or alternatively contact the Electoral Services Team and request a paper application.

Voting by Post

If you are unable to attend your polling station to cast your vote on Thursday 23rd February, you can apply for a postal vote.  The deadline for receiving applications is 5pm on Wednesday 8th February 2017.  Postal votes will then be sent out 1st class on Monday 13th February and must be returned by 10pm on polling day (23rd February).  Application forms can be downloaded from www.aboutmyvote.co.uk or alternatively contact the electoral services team and request a paper application. 

Voting by Proxy

If you are unable to attend your polling station on Thursday 23rd February and do not wish to vote by post, you can apply to vote by proxy.  The deadline for receiving applications is 5pm on Wednesday 15th February 2017.  Application forms can be downloaded from www.aboutmyvote.co.uk or alternatively contact the electoral services team and request a paper application. 

The Deadline for applications to change an existing postal or proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 8th February 2017.  Any changes should be sent in writing to elections@copeland.gov.uk or by post.
