Cumbria County Council's Trading Standards and Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service are offering free electric blanket testing sessions across the County.

Electric blanket testing sessions

Two events will be held in Copeland and residents can bring their blanket to be tested, by appointment only, between 9 am and 5 pm at the following locations:

  • Monday 16 September - Civic Hall, Cleator Moor
  • Friday 4 October  - Age UK, Old Customs House, Whitehaven


 Drop – off and collection points (appointments only)

Longtown Community Centre 

Residents can make an appointment to deposit their blankets at Longtown Community Centre on Thursday, 19 September between 1.00 pm and 3.00 pm and can collect on Monday, 23 September between 2 pm and 4 pm Millom Citizens Advice Bureau

Residents can make an appointment to deposit their blankets at Millom CAB between 9.00 am and 12.00 pm on Monday, 16 September and collect on Thursday, 19 September between
1 pm and 3 pm
Testing is strictly by appointment only with limited spaces.  To make an appointment please contact Trading Standards on 01539 713594. Safety checks will be undertaken by qualified staff who are able to correct minor faults.  For those blankets which fail safety tests, Cumbria County Council will provide one replacement under-blanket per household.
