Information for candidates and agents regarding the various 2015 elections.
Important Information About the Election Process
All candidates and agents need to be fully conversant with election processes and procedures. Candidates will need to submit a nomination paper to the Returning Officer at Copeland Borough Council during the official nomination period before the election. The dates of the nomination period will be available on this page when the ‘Notice of Election’ is published. Nomination papers will be made available before the nomination period begins.
The Electoral Commission’s website contains important information and guidance for candidates considering standing for election, which we recommend that all prospective candidates read.
Candidates may represent a political party, or stand as independents. To be a party candidate authorisation from that political party is required.
If you are interested in standing as an independent candidate, then there is further guidance available from the Local Government Association.
