Waste Minimisation and Recycling in CopelandRecycle Mark

We provide a range of services to help people minimise the waste they produce and recycle as much of that waste as they can.

As a result of this, and the hard work of our residents, in 2009/10 we recycled over 41% of household waste produced.

However, almost 70% of the waste we dispose of could actually be recycled or composted. This includes items such as glass bottles and jars, steel and aluminium cans, paper and textiles; along with cardboard and plastic bottles, which can now be recycled in Copeland.

Our recycling pages give more information on how to minimise the waste you produce, as well as giving information on:

We can also provide specific advice on recycling and waste minimisation, including attending schools and community groups. This service is offered by one of our Waste Management Officers, in conjunction with a Community Waste Education Officer from Cumbria County Council.

If you need any particular waste minimisation or recycling advice, or would like to arrange some waste education sessions at your school or community group, then please contact us on 0845 054 8600 or by email to info@copeland.gov.uk.
