From Monday 2nd November 2009 there will be some changes to the benefit entitlement rules.  Child benefit will not be taken into account at all in the assessment of Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit.  For people over 60, the capital threshold will start at £10,000 rather than £6,000 (so we will not take into account any capital under £10,000).

If you are already receiving these benefits your entitlement will automatically be reassessed.  If you have recently claimed and were not entitled, and may now qualify, we will be writing to you shortly inviting you to claim again.

If you would like any further information on the new rules please contact Copelands Benefit Team on 0845 054 8600.
