Homecoming parade comes to town
More than 120 soldiers from across the North West will parade in Whitehaven next week to mark their return from Afghanistan.
Men and women from the 1st Battalion, The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment will march through the town centre at 11.45 am on Monday 20 May 2013.
The regiment is returning to the three places where it historically received Freedom of the Town - for Whitehaven that was in 1964.
Schoolchildren will line the route, local businesses are going to dress their windows and we would like to encourage as many people as possible to join in the celebrations and give the soldiers a warm welcome home.
